DID YOU KNOW?
Turtles can
be delightful creatures to have around, but some species can be
difficult to keep healthy. Most require expensive husbandry equipment,
enclosures, and specialized lighting. They require a broad diet and spacious enclosures.
Water Turtles -
Sliders and other water turtles (painted, snapping, musk, and
others) require large aquatic enclosures. Large indoor
or outdoor ponds, or water gardens, are most appropriate as only
the largest of aquariums are suitable. Depending on your
location and the species, you will need to have suitable
indoor housing for the winter.
Land Turtles -
Land dwelling turtles such as box turtles and tortoises need spacious, secure outdoor enclosures.
